I’m just sitting here trying to work on client stuff today and my cousin suggested that I watch the documentary Kiss The Ground with Woody Harrelson. That’s all she said- “just watch it”. Well, I like Woody, let’s do this, I will play it in the background while I crank out some good solid work.
Documentary starts…
Within two minutes I’m completely captivated. “In soil, we trust” pretty much sums it up, however I will dig a bit deeper.
I’m not going to get into the politics and position behind global warming or climate change etc… but what I can say is that as a grandmother, it is quickly becoming my remainder of life’s goal to help save the planet. According to a study in this film, we have only 60 harvests left…that equals 60 years. Ummmm…what the!!!!
The film goes on to show how 1/3 of our planet has turned to dirt…desert land and why/how. This means humans get pushed out of/or off of their land with nowhere to go, it means poor land, poor people, unrest, civil wars and so on. The main focus is on our soil. It is fascinating, scary as hell, beautiful, informative, and if it doesn’t completely move you into even the smallest of actions then I don’t know what to say.
If you are looking for something to do that can impact our planet…and really save the planet for our grandbabies, then- WATCH THIS FILM!
PS- Regenerative agriculture and farming- I am so on board with this! My hubby and I are all about growing food not lawns, this film just catapulted my/our commitment even more. I will post our journey here under “Our Planet”. I know for a fact that Aba will be joining in because she already has a dang compost and she is such a hippie! I want to be a hippie now, for my grandbabies and for our and their future. Don’t even care about the politics, I just know that planting food and regenerating our soil is a no-brainer.
Lolli out….
